This project aims to reconstruct autonomously twisting cellular tubes in vitro, and to elucidate the mechanism by which cell chirality, known as cell-scale LR asymmetry, induces self-organized LR asymmetric multicellular morphologies. Left-right (LR) asymmetric 3D morphology of organs is essential for the function of organs and for the coordination between organs. This project collaborates with Hagiwara team to reconstruct tubes and try to understand how the LR asymmetry of organs is emerged from the cell chirality empirically and mathematically.
